What is a Summary? #
Summaries are very powerful search features that give you detailed data-mining at the touch of a button. There are a few this to understand about Summaries:
- Summaries are not groups. That is, no record belongs to a Summary in the same way that a record belongs to a group. Instead Summaries are calculations based on which groups a records belong to.
- Records aren’t added or removed to a Summary. For example, you cannot add or remove someone from the Summary called All Involved in Bible Studies. However, if you add someone as involved in a Bible Study group, then they will show as part of the All Involved in Bible Studies Summary.
- Summaries cannot have groups added to them. They are static and unchanged.
- Information in Summaries are calculated live. Every time you select a Summary, it re-calculates which records should be shown.
- Summaries can, however, interact with Groups in the same way as Groups can be interacted with Groups. This is part of the Querying process.
